About this speaker

Joe is an actuary with over 30 years professional experience in insurance markets in Ireland and internationally. 

His journey in the sustainability and climate change space began in 2005 when he spent a year working on recovery projects for an INGO in southern Sri Lanka after the great Indian Ocean tsunami. From 2016 to 2021 he worked on a series of assignments as Senior Actuarial Consultant for the World Bank’s Disaster Risk Finance and Insurance Program. In 2019 he completed an MSc in International Development at University College Dublin. 

A founding member of the Society of Actuaries in Ireland’s Sustainability and Climate Change Steering Committee, Joe has also been a member of and Research lead for the (UK) Institute and Faculty of Actuaries’ Sustainability Board and a member of the Catastrophe & Climate Strategic Research Program Steering Committee for the (North American) Society of Actuaries.
